|Bio:||What goes on at this here IJ: I gripe about my job a bit and about my health rather a lot, I do memes, I talk about stuff I've read/watched and I enthuse about my fandoms. I'm trying to overcome my "don't post for ages, then TL;DR" habit.|
What owns my heart: The consuming fandom obsession of my life is the Vampire Chronicles, and I'd talk about Lives of the Mayfair Witches more if I could find more like-minded people to squee to.
My other loves are the Police (the band and their solo careers), Fiction Plane, Being Human and Sherlock Holmes, and I'm a Terminator fan from wayback. If not actually active in the fandom, I always love to talk about the multi-tentacled, time-displaced canon with like-minded people. Plus I'm getting back into Harry Potter, which is never a bad thing. Other canons I've either dived into lately, or am about to, are ASOIAF, The Hunger Games and the Aubrey/Maturin series.
Alas... If you're a Tory sympathiser, we're just not destined to get on. Too much of the government's policy-enshrined bigotry and spectacularly unwise reform on issues like disability and unemployment benefits, immigration and the NHS hits me and my loved ones right where we live.
Three things I'd rather not hear: 'retard', 'spaz', and 'disabled people are so over-sensitive about words!' I don't agree with every bit of language-policing by other disabled fans, but I'd hope we could agree that where there's consensus about a slur, it's only right to refrain from waving it in people's faces.
Friends forever? If we friended each other but you're thinking, "Oh crap, we don't seem to have much to say to each other/she's actually a bit boring," then worry not. Defriending does not equal drama - friending mismatch does happen, especially when most posts are made under f-lock and friending each other is the equivalent of a blind date.
